Targets: The inner and outer folds of skin around the vulva, which might be larger than normal due to childbirth, a congenital defect or other conditions that can make women physically uncomfortable or self-conscious.
Procedure: While the patient is under local anesthesia, the surgeon will reconfigure and reduce the treated area.
Time: Thirty minutes to an hour
Recovery: “In a week they can heal up nicely,” Chang says. “We recognize this is a private issue, and we try to handle them with kid gloves.”
