Cosmetic Surgery: Labiaplasty

Targets: The inner and outer folds of skin around the vulva, which might be larger than normal due to childbirth, a congenital defect or other conditions that can make women physically uncomfortable or self-conscious.

Procedure: While the patient is under local anesthesia, the surgeon will reconfigure and reduce the treated area.

Time: Thirty minutes to an hour

Recovery: “In a week they can heal up nicely,” Chang says. “We recognize this is a private issue, and we try to handle them with kid gloves.”
