One thing DCAD offers that no other program can: “You get to join a community of professional designers and artists who are committed to education,” says communications director Jessica Sturgis. Those profs work actively in their fields. They teach not only traditional college students, but also continuing ed students, who can takes classes in computer graphics, fine arts, interior design, jewelry design and photography for professional development or for personal enrichment. Special programs for high school students give experience in college-level design and portfolio prep, and each summer brings a weeklong program for rising high school juniors and seniors who get to live on campus while studying, just like full-fledged college students.
