Surgery to change the size and shape of the nose is performed through either incisions inside the nose or in the tissue between the nostrils. The soft tissues that cover the nose are raised to reach the bone and cartilage for reshaping with traditional surgical instruments. Wonderful results can be realistically achieved for many patients. The latest techniques preserve cartilage and minimize resection to give excellent and natural long-term results with minimal risks.
Risks Broken capillaries near the surface of the skin, an asymmetrical result, changes to the airway that disrupt breathing. Risks are low overall.
Recovery Splints outside and tubes inside the nose must be worn temporarily. Swelling and bruising resolves in one to two weeks. Final results can take up to a year.
