Between its five statewide locations, the society holds about 120 camps each season, starting June 18. The one-week camps range from half-day programs for children ages 3 and 4 to an overnight trip to Ohiopyle State Park in western Pennsylvania (July 30-Aug. 3). Nature is a recurring theme. “Riverfront Discovery” camp (June 25-29) takes kids on an active tour of the Wilmington Riverfront. They’ll visit the DuPont Environmental Education Center and the Delaware Children’s Museum. They’ll learn to row with the Wilmington Youth Rowing Association and sail aboard the Kalmar Nyckel. Some of the nature-oriented camps get creative. “Wizards and Lizards” (July 16-20) takes its cue from Harry Potter and his friends.
Fee: $140 for half-day camps to $375 for overnight camps. (Non-members pay about $55 more.)
