Gov. Jack Markell’s appointee as president of the Southern Delaware Estate Planning Council, Cindy L. Szabo is at the fore of helping to establish professional and educational standards for estate planners. A partner in the Georgetown-based law firm of Ellis &Szabo, she was the first person from her high school in Fort Pierce, Fla., to attend an Ivy League university. After seven years of practicing corporate and securities law in New York and New Jersey, she and her husband joined the family practice (her father-in-law’s) in Sussex, where Szabo also serves on the development council of Delaware Tech. A professional goal: to be as good a mentor to others as her mentors were for her.
