Digital information management is hot in the healthcare industry. Gina Altieri, vice president of corporate services for Nemours since 2006, is in front of the IT trends. Under her leadership, the internationally recognized Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children recently developed MyNemours, a confidential Internet-based tool that allows parents access to portions of their child’s medical records in order to make them more informed caregivers. In September Nemours/Alfred I. became one of only 59 hospitals (out of more than 5,000 in the country) to receive the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society’s highest award for electronic medical records management—an honor that builds on Nemours’ prestigious HIMSS Davies Organizational Award for Excellence in 2010 for using health information technology to improve patient care.
