The end of one story is the beginning of another. When Winterthur closed the Historic Houses of Odessa after 9/11, staffer Linda A.K. Danko found herself with “a unique opportunity to broaden her horizons.” She reached out to the former director of The Biggs Museum of American Art, a former colleague at Winterthur, “and the rest is history.” As the museum’s executive director, Danko oversees all operations and works with the board on strategic planning. Now she’s at the fore of a $1.8 million capital campaign—her first—to fund a museum-wide renovation, the most significant effort in the Biggs’ 19-year history. With lots of support from private donors and the state, Danko reports that the campaign is off to a good start.
