Delicious Dining Events to Try This Weekend, April 27–29

From a four-course feast at the Millstone CafĂ© to an Egyptian festival, there’s something for every palate.

Friday, April 27 

Join the Brandywine River Museum of Art for a celebration of spring with a delicious, four-course feast in the Millstone Café, featuring a menu of fresh, locally sourced and seasonally inspired flavors. The menu includes:

  • First course: Roasted asparagus soup with spring herb gremolata
  • Second course: small plate offerings including ricotta gnudi with salami toscana, asparagus and pea tendrils, a rustic Swiss chard galette with chèvre, ramps, pickled enoki, sorrel pesto and a quail egg, and an Heirloom carrot salad with favas, foraged greens, radish, almonds, red currants and Meyer lemon yogurt
  • Third course: Lamb breast roulade and spring greens with a side of fennel chutney and creamy polenta
  • Fourth course: Strawberry-rhubarb shortcake with Chantilly cream and preserved clementine layered between buttery biscuits.

Carefully selected wine pairings will accompany each course, highlighting the tasting notes of spring. Prior to dinner, enjoy private access to the Museum galleries.

Saturday, April 28

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Greenbank Mills & Philips Farm is hosting its 14th annual Shearing Day & Herb Sale. Admission is free and open to the public.

Learn a number of colonial skills, including bread baking and sheep shearing. Guided tours of the historic mill will be available and the newest exhibit, “Meet The Flock: The Sheep of Greenbank,” will be on display.

A wonderful selection of Amish-grown herbs will be available for purchase. (You can also pre-order what you want here.)

New for this year will be a variety of live music including Chapel Street Junction and Seven Rings. Local food trucks including The Hungry Spork and SwampTown Food Truck, Caterers and Concessionaires will be serving up delicious dishes, and even Big Oyster Brewery will be on-site pouring samples of their amazing brews.

Saturday, April 28–Sunday, April 29

Experience the Egyptian culture and delicacies at St. Mary Coptic Orthodox Church of Delaware’s annual Egyptian Festival, which takes place Saturday, April 28, and Sunday, April 29, from 10 a.m.–7 p.m.

Come hungry because there will be plenty of things to eat, including falafel, gyros, kabobs, baklava, basbousa and stuffed grape leaves. There will be plenty of carnival-style games and prizes, church tours and traditional Egyptian dance shows. In addition, you’ll be able to purchase papyrus paintings, scarabs and jewelry.

Admission is free and open to the public.
