Designer Snapshots for Middletown Designer Show House

Hector Correa—Master Bedroom
Home design is about more than looks; it’s also about how a room makes you feel, says Hector Correa, owner of DelCor Home Interiors. Correa, an avid Middletown booster, opened his interior design business in the town’s historic center in 2005. Among his prominent design clients is Delaware State University, where he decorated the president’s quarters. In addition to offering design services, DelCor Home Interiors has a full showroom selling upholstery, fabrics and home accessories. A few of his pieces have been seen on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

John Moore—Kitchen
John Moore, founder and owner of Moore’s Cabinet Refinishing in Middletown, loves the beauty and naturalness of wood. He says his interest and skill in woodworking was passed on to him by his grandfather, who did woodworking as a hobby. Moore’s business has grown considerably since he started it in 1975. Once strictly a refinishing and refacing company, Moore’s now designs kitchens and offers semi-custom and custom cabinetry in addition to refinishing and refacing. The company has twice worked on kitchen cabinetry for the A&E home rebuilding show “Disaster Guy.”

   Barbara and Steven Pettinella—Living Room
This husband and wife design team at Decorating Den Interiors in Hockessin tries to push clients’ comfort zones just enough to achieve a look that not only fits their personalities but also will excite them for years to come. Barbara, who graduated from the Tobe-Coburn School of Design in New York, has been decorating for more than 30 years. She has worked with the likes of Ralph Lauren, Bill Blass and Diane von Furstenberg. Steven joined her business seven years ago, bringing with him experience in restaurant marketing and design, which includes an emphasis on color and lighting. Their status as a Decorating Den franchisee gives them access to that national company’s immense assortment of home furnishings.
