The ABC Delaware Diversity Committee presents two awards annually to ABC member companies that embrace diversity on a variety of levels.
Diversity & Culture in the Workplace Award
The 2012 Diversity & Culture in the Workplace Award winner is Seiberlich Trane Energy Services. This award is presented to the ABC Delaware member company that expresses the highest level of commitment to diversity and culture in their workplace including: CEO commitment (examines the CEO’s personal involvement in diversity, how she/he holds executives accountable for diversity success and board-of-director demographics); human capital (includes standards/employee policies on work/life benefits and recruitment strategies, including people with disabilities, provided educational and outreach workshops on culture and diversity); and corporate/organizational communications and outreach (external factors such as philanthropic contributions, multicultural marketing, Web site communication of diversity branding, and outreach/assistance with resource organizations involved with diversity initiatives and joint venture initiatives with: Small Business Enterprise; Service Disabled Veterans; Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise; Disadvantaged Business Enterprise; Women-owned Business Enterprise; Veteran and Service Disabled; 8-A; Minority Business Enterprise).
Diversity Utilization Award
The 2012 Diversity Utilization Award is presented to Pettinaro Construction Company. This award is presented to the ABC Delaware member company that exhibits the highest level of procurement with diverse vendors including diverse suppliers that are certified by Delaware’s Office of Minority and Women Business Enterprises and are defined as businesses that are owned by Blacks, Latinos, Asians, American Indians, and women, as well as veterans and people with disabilities; and does company communication to include supplier diversity in requests for proposals as well as providing mentoring to suppliers, and in cases where possible.
