Kirker will be hosting a lecture and food sampling inspired by her book, “Edible Flowers: A Global History,” which she co-authored with Mary Newman.
The book provides a fascinating history of how flowers have been used in cooking around the world throughout time, from ancient customs to modern kitchens.
Food prepared by Chef Kline in the museum’s Millstone Café will include Moroccan chicken, green salad, potato salad with herbes de Provence, deviled eggs, floral cheeses, lavender cookies, hibiscus chutney, and lemon-elderflower cake. Beverages will include herbal teas, waters and a taste of St.-Germain. Tickets are $25 for members and $35 for non-members.
Ms. Kirker will have copies of her book available for purchase.
