We involve patients in all aspects of care through initiatives such as bedside shift report and hourly rounding. We also have a Think of Yourself as a Patient Council and a Patient and Family Advisory Council to continually improve patient- and family-centered care. Bedside nurses at Christiana Care are given the opportunity to participate in shared governance within their units and throughout the organization. This allows bedside nurses to provide feedback on policies and procedures. As a nurse you see your patients and their families in the most difficult times of their lives. Assisting patients and families through these times to their recovery is the most rewarding aspect of my work.
