“If I could do anything else, it would be to teach people how important our food supply is, how much hard work goes into what we buy in the grocery store, and how important it is to buy local,” says Ellen M. Magee, a partner in Magee Farms of Selbyville. The farm—established in 1865— grows fruits, vegetables and grain. Magee oversees sales, transportation and the books while serving several local nonprofit boards. With sons who are fifth-generation farmers, “I would like Magee Farms to become a household name for Delaware fruits and vegetables,” she says.
