I don’t know about you, but I love this whole DIY-craftster movement that’s been sweeping the nation for the past few years. So, naturally, I love handmade favors. Here’s an easy and elegant one. And, because of all the day-after-Christmas sales, you’ll be able to pick up a lot of the supplies super cheap in a few days.
Dressed up candles
Materials:
Candles and ribbon to coordinate with your color scheme
Sealing wax
Seal (of your monogram?)
Aluminum foil
Waxed paper
Metal spoon
Votive candle
Craft glue
Ice pack
Straight pin
Prep your surface by spreading waxed paper over aluminum foil on a flat surface. Keep your seal on the ice pack so that it stays cold enough to set the wax quickly. Break off some sealing wax and put it in the spoon. Hold the spoon over the lit votive to melt the wax. Pour the melted wax on your waxed paper and quickly press the seal in the center. Repeat to makes as many medallions as you’ll need. Wrap the ribbon around the candle and secure it with a straight pin. Peel the medallion from the waxed paper. Glue it over the ribbon ends.
Voila! A custom favor.
