What does a homeowner do after a major renovation? Why, throw a party, of course, and show off the home’s new look to friends. That’s exactly what Middletown Main Street has in mind with its Designer Show House Gala, which takes place the evening before the Show House debuts to the public.
“It’s a great kickoff to the Designer Show House because this is the one time when people can be sure to meet all of the designers and talk with them about how they’ve transformed the rooms,” says Gala organizer JoAnne Hewlett, owner of Make a Memory Event Planning and Photo Booth in Middletown.
After the tour, guests will feast on heavy hors d’oeuvres provided by some of the top restaurants and caterers below the canal, including Middletown Seafood, E’s on Main Street, Chesapeake Inn, Frog Hollow, Cantwell’s Tavern and Immediato’s Bistro. There will also be luscious sweets provided by Middletown’s Sweet Melissa.
Sean Reilly will croon his Sinatra sounds, and DJ Jammin’ Jeff will play dance favorites.
“The Gala was a new addition to the Show House last year, and it was a big success,” says Tracy Skrobot, program manager for Middletown Main Street. “It’s a great way for all of us who take pride in the renaissance of Middletown to get together and enjoy each other’s company while supporting projects that make downtown Middletown the special place that it is.”
The Designer Show House Gala takes place April 12 from 6 to 10 p.m. at 206 Broad St. Tickets are $45 per person or $80 per couple, and include the tour, food and entertainment. There will also be a cash bar and a silent auction. All proceeds support Middletown Main Street’s grant fund.
