Working for some of the biggest chicken companies in the business prepared Georgie Marie Cartanza of Dover perfectly for her job as an independent poultry producer and consultant, and it gave her the freedom to build her own farm. Now she manages and cares for four flocks of 156,000 chicks a year. That translates to 5.5 million pounds of meat, which feeds a lot of families. She also taught classes in producer relations for some local poultry companies.
