They go in search of Grotto’s self-described “legendary taste,” created in part by the unique blend of three cheeses swirled on the face of every pie, and memories of summers at the beach. By now, everyone knows the story of owner Dominick Pulieri handing out slices as people passed the original store on the Rehoboth Boardwalk in 1960, back when no one in the area knew what pizza was. Now there are 18 locations in the state, and they are full-service restaurants that serve much more than pizza, though nothing quite as much as pizza.
