Oncology nurse navigators help overcome health care barriers and improve the quality of life for patients. We manage symptoms and provide and coordinate care to patients and caregivers within a multidisciplinary team. Nurse Navigators possess strong oncology knowledge and critical thinking skills, making them the glue of the multidisciplinary care team. The most rewarding aspect of my work is optimal patient outcomes evidenced by building trusting relationships. The nurse navigator becomes the lifeline during this most vulnerable time.
