For Pamela Tikellis, an attorney and executive committee member with the law firm Chimicles & Tikellis, it’s impossible to have the gender compensation discussion without considering the unique life choices women are forced to make.
“I’m not one of those women who thinks you can have it all. I’m married, but I never had children, and that was a choice I felt I had to make to succeed in this field,” says Tikellis. “I see very few women in corporate practice, but I suspect that’s because it’s so stressful and taxing to have all things at once. Women are certainly struggling to get to the top, but not because they are being held down.”
