A nonsectarian private college preparatory school with a strong drama program for students in pre-K through grade 12 (tatnall.org)
Opened as a girls’ school, Tatnall became coeducational in 1964.
“Referred to as ‘The Family School’ because of its rich tradition of cooperation between home and school and the school’s focus on each child’s needs and abilities,” according to the school’s Web site, Tatnall aims to create an environment that “nurtures curiosity and encourages students to grow in maturity and self-esteem” and to become problem-solvers with character and integrity.
Among a rich offering of sports and extracurricular activities, students may participate in three drama productions each year, or perform in chorus, band or strings ensembles.
Each fall students from Denmark and Italy come to Tatnall to experience American education, and in the spring, Tatnall students reciprocate, and live with host families, attend school and explore the area’s culture and history. One in four students receive financial aid.
Did you know: Tatnall’s concert choir has performed at the St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice and at the Vatican.
