Organized through the National Kidney Foundation, Kidney Walks across the United States raise funds for the prevention of kidney disease, and raise awareness of the need for organ donation. Some 26 million people nationwide suffer with chronic kidney disease.
At the fourth annual Wilmington Kidney Walk in October 2011, Wilmington University’s Team Wilson walked in support of Jim Wilson and his battle with kidney disease. Wilson was able to attend—just two weeks after receiving a kidney transplant. Walkers raised more than $100,000 for the National Kidney Foundation of the Delaware Valley.
The 2012 Wilmington Kidney Walk takes place at the Riverfront in Wilmington on Sunday, Oct. 14. (http://donate.kidney.org/site/TR/Walk/DelawareValley)
