The holidays are right around the corner, and while for many of us this means shopping, overeating and spending time with family, for others it can be a time of struggle and stress. Fortunately, the Wilmington Jaycees, a community service and social organization for young adults between the ages of 21 and 40, has teamed up with West End Neighborhood House to provide Thanksgiving dinners to families who otherwise would not be able have a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
The Thanksgiving Food Basket Assembly will take place Nov. 17 at West End Neighborhood House from 8 to 11 a.m., and volunteers are needed. The goal is to assemble 400 baskets to be distributed to eligible local families in Wilmington.
Each meal provided will contain:
- Turkey
- Stuffing
- Bread
- Green Beans (2 cans)
- Corn (2 Cans)
- Cranberry Sauce
- Potatoes
- Turkey Gravy
- Yams
- Brownies
If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact the Wilmington Jaycees at thewilmingtonjaycees@gmail.com. For more information, visit their website.
