“For many years, I have educated, mentored, and supported students in diploma, associate degree and baccalaureate nursing programs, teaching psychiatric nursing principles and practice. Teaching others has been most rewarding for me. As staff development educator, I enjoyed working in a hospital setting with patients with mental illness and educating nursing staff to assess needs of these patients while learning to provide quality care with this population. Working with multidisciplinary teams—doctors, social workers, nurses, activity therapists and others—while providing leadership in designing evidenced-based nursing interventions to improve patient outcomes, was the most rewarding aspect of this role.”
