Volunteerism and Service
Moonyeen Klopfenstein, MS, RN, IBCLC, CCE
Christiana Care Health System
“In 1978, following the premature birth and months of care for my critically ill son, Danny, I became, personally, more aware of the issues parents are dealing with in labor delivery and neonatal intensive care. I was inspired to start the Loving Arms support group in 1978 with support of staff and hospital administration. To our knowledge this is the longest, continually running, monthly support group in the country for parents grieving the loss of their infant through ectopic, miscarriage, stillborn or neonatal death. Even though I am over 70 years old and have been working as a registered nurse since 1966, I can’t imagine not working as a nurse. No other career could provide such a variety of experiences, wealth of knowledge and rewards of helping.”
