The Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware has long been the go-to source for information about a particular business. Now the longstanding organization has added yet another free way for consumers to make good decisions.
Since February, the newly redesigned BBB Review service began allowing consumers to post their reviews of a business—both positive and negative.
In addition, consumers can view the actual text of a customer complaint and the response from the business. (Previously, consumers could only see the number of complaints filed and the closure status.)
The enhancements to the BBB Review, which offers information about both accredited and non-accredited business, is in response to customer demand.
“For so many years, consumers have asked the BBB for a way to complement businesses for admirable practices and service,” says Christine Sauers, president of Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware.
The additions are also a response to the number of customer review sites on the Internet, such as Angie’s List and Yelp.
However, fairness and accuracy remains paramount to the BBB. All email addresses are verified. Comments do not appear on the BBB Review without being monitored first.
“The BBB reserves the right not to post reviews that are deemed ‘over the edge’ in accusations against a business or that might be seriously misleading to the public,” Sauers says. The majority, though, appear without edits.
Businesses receive an email when a customer review is received, and they have the option to respond to a negative review before it’s visible on the BBB Business Review. They can also confirm whether the poster is a customer.
