Treat Your Family to a Picnic in the Park (S’mores Included!)

Need a mid-week pick-me-up? Head out to Brandywine Creek State Park on Wednesdays through Aug. 22 for the Wilmington park’s Cool Evening Picnic and Nature Program. Grab the family and some food, head to the park to enjoy a picnic dinner, and then gather around a campfire at 7 p.m. for an hour-long nature program.

Each week’s program focuses on a different theme. The first of the season on Wednesday, June 13, is “S’mores & Stories”; guests will gather ’round the campfire, make s’mores, listen to campfire stories and make a pinecone bird feeder to take home.

The program itself is free, but s’mores are $1 each. Attendees can register beforehand by calling 655-5740, and should meet at the park’s amphitheater. (Walk-ins are welcome as long as space is available.)
