Ursuline Academy

An independent, Roman Catholic college preparatory school, with coeducational classes in pre-K through 3rd grade, and girls in grades 4-12 (ursuline.org)

Ursuline’s all-female high school student body aims to create a nurturing, connected environment that “empowers young women, encourages their intellectual curiosity, and fosters active participation in the learning process,” according to the school’s Web site.

“At Ursuline, girls find not only equal opportunity, but every opportunity … to speak out, ask questions, debate issues, and defend points of view as they become leaders for today and tomorrow.”

Ursuline opened almost 120 years ago as a convent and girls boarding school emphasizing culture, urbanity developed by religion and appreciation of the family.

Alumni include a Delaware Department of Education Teacher of the Year, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, federal judge, and Rhodes Scholar.
