Walter’s Steakhouse Perfects the Art of Beef

Walter’s Steakhouse
When John Walter Constantinou created Walter’s Steakhouse in 1993, he wanted it to feel like the old Constantinou’s House of Beef, which his father had run in Trolley Square from 1959 until the late 1980s. That meant salvaging moldings, mantels and lighting fixtures from vintage townhomes in Boston and Philly to create an authentic, old-school New York steakhouse look. He succeeded, opening a place that became an instant classic for not only its decor, but for its slow-roasted prime rib—no monkey business—as well as unique items such as a Delmonico seared with a crust of finely ground coffee and other seasonings, then topped with caramelized onions and crumbled bleu cheese. 802 N.
