Chandlee Johnson Kuhn
Wilmington
Chief Judge, Family Court of the state of Delaware

Kuhn’s role is twofold: She serves as chief administrative and executive officer of the court while presiding over cases as a trial judge. After 10 years in her job, one of Kuhn’s main priorities has become ending the so-called school-to-prison pipeline, which describes the ways the educational system fails the students who turn to crime. “I am privileged to serve on committees of The Council of State Governments, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges and Delaware’s legislative task force, which  are working on strategies and programs to end the pipeline,” she says. A certified yoga instructor, she helped develop a program for youth served through the Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families, and she recently joined the board of the Delaware Humane Association. “It never ceases to amaze me how the needs of our most vulnerable children and animals are similar.”
