You're Invited to Grain's Third Birthday Celebration

The Newark restaurant is marking the milestone with live music, commemorative T-shirts and, yes, its famous fried pickles.

Grain Craft Bar + Kitchen turns three years old this weekend, with three locations and more than a dozen Best of Delaware awards under its belt.

Over the past three years, says co-owner Lee Mikles, Grain has made over 250,000 fried pickles, hosted over 1,000 live musical acts, served over 20,000 Summer Soulstices, and posted pictures of over 200 regular customers on its walls. The restaurant has even seen a few marriage proposals and weddings.

“For two newbies in the restaurant biz, [Jim O’Donoghue and I] are having a lot of fun,” Mikles says.

Grain will be celebrating with a “Young, Wild and Three” party this Saturday, July 28, starting at 2 p.m. The Newark location will have three live music acts, special T-shirts created by Spaceboys and, of course, cake. All three locations will be serving $3 fried pickles, $3 Soulstices and $5 Allagash beers.
