As Sussex County’s top Realtor in dollars and sales volume, Wilkinson knows the art of the deal. She knows a lot about fine art, too. She graduated from the University of Delaware with degrees in fine art and art education, with the intention of becoming an art teacher.
When her first and only job interview went awry, Wilkinson started working for her parents’ real estate company. She’d had her Realtors’ license since she turned 18 and quickly segued from handling 20-odd rentals to becoming a sales agent. Since then, the company has expanded to meet the growing demand for Sussex County homes.
“This area has become extremely popular, so the biggest change over 37 years has been the volume of sales,” Wilkinson says. Those home prices are high right now. “We are very close to, if not ahead of, the height of the 2006–2007 markets,” she says. That could lead to stressful buying and selling, but Wilkinson has a sanguine approach to her work. “We’re not actually selling you anything,” she states. “We’re giving you information to make the right decision in buying a property.”
